SERGIO RIZZOLO
is SIMON ELIASSON; they merge into Malmö born dj, Prejka contributor and guerilla record sales man. One of them made us a playlist.
TOURIST magazine: Who is Sergio Rizzolo?
SIMON ELIASSON: My italian alter-ego, and of course the name I use when I DJ. I was obsessed with italian trash movies
for most of my teen years, so I guess I have to blame my teenage self for getting me stuck with a rather
corny DJ alias. To non-swedes I suppose my own name sounds just as exotic as I wanted to be percieved
in choosing an italian name.
TM: What can he do that Simon Eliasson can't?
SE: Speak really lousy english and look good in photos.
TM: Who would be more likely to wear a silk kimono in the mornings?
SE: Well I think Sergio wakes up at about 4 in the afternoon, wearing the same clothes he
wore the previous night. So I guess I'm the most likely candidate.
TM: You had an exhibition recently in Malmö, Sweden.
What went down?
SE: well, I buy a lot of records and always pick up double copies of the ones I feel are closest to my heart.
The concept of the Disco Academy is to sell these in the form I call a guerilla record store, which is pretty
similar to the specialised online vinyl stores like the ones run by Victor Kiswell or the Cosmic Dudes,
with a nisched selection of records and personal reviews, only this is done strictly in a local physical shape.
Kind of exclusive in a way, but the records are always reasonably cheap and there's beer.
TM: Under which optimal circumstances should your playlist get played?
SE: Cooking a hungover sunday brunch with some friends.
